Incorporating Technology into Professional Development for Administrators and Educators

Educational Technology Outreach program within the College of Education at the University of Maryland offers technology related professional development opportunities to educators and administrators, collaborates with faculty initiatives, and supports student learning. The wide variety of courses, workshops, seminars, conferences, and materials target increasing teachers' and administrators' level of technology implementation at school. Educators learn how to meet content standards while integrating technology, make use of "Best Practices" and stay current with the latest research in the field of educational technology. Activities and courses:
  • Increase productivity
  • Support professional growth
  • Offer strategies to effectively integrate technology in the classroom
  • Focus on student learning as the overall goal
  • Use technology as a tool to accomplish daily administration and learning activities
  • Are designed to aid in meeting certification and recertification requirements
  • May qualify for local school district reimbursement
  • Utilize Kirkpatrick's Model for Followup Assessment (Level III) utilizing ETO's professional development model

ETO is always interested in suggestions from professional educators in the field on technology drofessional development activities that need to be addressed. Advantages



ETO offers a Technology Associate Certificate from the Institute for Technology and Teaching for successfully completing three courses in the Institute. We continue to enroll new districts, update content and material, and incorporate new and dynamic concepts for educators and schools that keep all the courses practical and exciting.
