Cost:

Each student must be admintted to graduate school as an Institute student (if not already admitted). This is a one time non-refundable fee of $50.00. Each one graduate credit course costs a flat fee of $289.  This fee includes all admissions, registration, and online charges.

Payment:

You may pay by credit card or check.  See details on the Registration/Payment page.  The University accepts Visa, Master Card and Discover cards for payment.

Withdrawals:

If you wish to withdraw from the course and cancel your admission and registration, you must request "Official withdrawal" from a class.  Official withdrawal must be initiated and acknowledged before attendance in the first session (module).  This means that either e-mail or written requests must be received before the first session.   Students can officially withdraw from a course in any of the following ways:

  1. E-mailing your withdrawal request to
    dpruitt@umd.edu
  1. Requesting in writing to withdraw from a course or courses. Address withdrawal requests to: Student Service - Outreach, University of Maryland, 1210 Benjamin Building, College Park, MD 20742.
  2. Fax your request to (301)314-9278.

The postmark on the envelope, or the date and time of the e-mail, or the date and time of the fax, will be the official date of withdrawal.  Withdrawals cannot be accepted over the telephone.   Failure to withdraw in the required manner will result in the forfeiture of any refund and may result in a failing grade.

Stopping payment on checks or canceling credit card payment  does not constitute an official withdrawal or relieve students of financial obligation to the University System of Maryland.  Never participating in or never attending  class does not constitute a withdrawal.

The withdrawal request must include your name, student ID number (SS#), address, course information, and signature, plus a contact phone number for the University to use if further confirmation is requested.
