EDUC 477/698O:

Assistive Technology/Universal Design for the General Classroom Settings

Session 8/9: What’s Available: Visual & Inputs/Outputs Barriers

December 21 and 28, 2006

Responses due January 4th, 2007

Quick Links

Introduction:

We continue our journey exploring samples of what is available in Assistive Technology tools, paying closer attention to the role of visual inputs/outputs. Keep in mind many of the resources might not be directly applicable in the traditional sense, but our goal is to have the general classroom teacher more aware of “What’s Available”.

In addition, we continue with our IEP group project (Anna case study). This session will focus on Part 2:

  • Providing a well organized report that you would take with you to a IST committee meeting (i.e., attendance, grades, samples of student work, write up of concerns with student work, behavior, what you have tried, what works, what does not seem to work etc. in your class-this information is provided in the Anna documentation—you just need to pull out which portion applies to your role)
  • Creating a plan for implementing strategies and assistive technology tools for this student in each of your content areas
